I looked this up recently and if there’s an earlier occurrence I couldn’t find it. I was also in the theater watching Buckaroo when I first heard it, and it was a fresh joke at the time.

Pretty sure that was one of the Road Warrior sequels, but I could be wrong!

I was way too young when I saw that movie, I’ve really got to rewatch it as an adult.

People tend to forget what a loaded cast of actors that movie had. Peter Weller, John Lithgow, Ellen Barkin, Christopher Lloyd, Jeff Goldblum, Rosalind Cash, and Clancy Brown just to name a few.

Geeze, and usually Frazz is all snobby about knowing obscure facts.

I’m pretty sure the Firesign Theater had a similar quote on one of their albums in the early seventies.

That’s the first time I heard it.

Whether it originated with Buckaroo Banzai or not, everyone should go see that movie.
