Wasting money on lottery tickets?

My friend is a volunteer financial counselor. The first things he tells young couples: Give up the lotto tix and the $5 Expressos. No wonder they can’t make ends meet.

I hope they win something worthwhile.

Too many people gamble with money they cannot afford to lose..then go to a “credit repair” company that reduced their debt by having the vendor take a loss on what the person bought. Those who gamble tend to have REAL bad credit.

In my attic is my coin collection. I started it in about 1960 and stopped a decade later. I have a lot of pre-aluminum coins: like when dimes, quarters and half dollars still had silver in them. Pennies were made of copper and nickels actually contained nickel.

Face value, the collection is probably about $75. I wonder what it is worth today.

I know a guy that uses his keys.

used to work in a bank and whenever I would see auto pays to the casino or draws from the atms at the casino, I would also see the payday loans taken out ,. Triggered a red flag and we would close the cheking acct out right away.

There’s a lotto reasons he uses a coin to scratch tickets, but none of them make cents.

That’s a lotto bunk

You use a coin on a scratch-off ticket to see whether it’s a winner, but whether it is a winner is predetermined. Whether a lotto ticket is a winner depends on whether it matches a subsequent drawing, but the numbers on the ticket are already visible — there’s no point in using a coin to scratch it, because there’s nothing to scratch off.

A useless coinage of phrase.

My husband pays for things with paper. He saves the change. He made the down payment on our rural property in 1985 with saved coins. They do add up.
