    /// It’s a lie to imply that bear’s “cokie.”

Far from “hopped-up,” he’s clumsy and poky.

    The man made him upset—

    tossed a lit cigarette.

You don’t do things like that before Smokey.

A Cautionary Tale: How Pierre Met a Grizzly and Came to a Grisly End (written in the style of Hilaire Belloc [I hope])

    Pierre vain Hunter extraordinaire

Went out to shoot a fearsome grizzly bear

Traipsing through the woods he soon found

A huge grizzly’s tracks upon the ground.

    .

Foolish Pierre did not yet realize

That he was Food in the grizzly’s Eyes

And that as he crept through the forest dim,

The huge hungry bear was tracking HIM!

    .

Soon they met and Pierre became aware

This was no friendly Smokey Bear.

At ten feet tall on its hind legs chargin’

There was hardly any safety margin!

    .

Unfortunate it was, his shotgun jammed

And into Pierre the grizzly rammed!

It was not pretty what then ensued

The blood and guts for each, vicissitude.

    .

When later searchers looked here and there

All they found was scattered bones and hair…

Take heed you hunting bears unprepared:

Be well-armed and no shame is it to be scared!

    .

    Pierre was most certainly not

And look the pain and suffering it him got

The bear, however, his stomach satisfied

Did not care except HE hadn’t died.

    Grizzly Attack

Paste (including the quote marks, may require clearing browser cache first):

    Künstler 1970 "Grizzly Attack" site:fineart.ha.com

(syntax supported by the Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, and Ecosia search engines) in the browser address bar (or search for it using one of those search engines) and choose the first https://fineart.ha.com link found for info about this auctioned roughly jumbo envelope size painting. Since the artist is still alive (as of this writing), copyright restrictions prohibit me from posting an image of this artwork to Wikimedia Commons.

Again, a larger strip image is shown by (Ctrl- or right-) clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s MASTERPIECE #3086 (February 23, 2023) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment, and using the dropdown menu (even larger if you trim what’s after .png from the URL). I have added a comment there pointing to info about this artist I used to point to here. Second work by this artist used here, the February 6, 2015, being the prior. GoComics has deactivated the 15 hyperlinks and removed the line breaks in my comment there; but, maybe the text remains informative.

/// Unprovoked, the Bear made his attack.

Thought he’d gobble them up as a snack.

But they’re brave; won’t give in

and just let the Bear win.

Using weapons from us they fight back.
