Would have liked to do that and to donate organs eventually : ) but a recipe of required meds has put paid to that idea. Maybe my brain? Nah. Nothing there.
I used to give “double reds.” I can’t do that anymore since I had a cardiac “incident” and my doctor put me on blood thinners which I am certain that I DON’T need, but follow her orders anyway.
I donate regularly. This past October, when I went to donate, my hemoglobin was too low. I went back 3 times, each time it was lower and lower. It’s normally around 13.5 or so. Long story short, I went to ER, it was down to 5.9! They told me that if I’d waited 3-4 more days, I wouldn’t have made it. Turned out I had a bleeding ulcer. 6 days in hosp.

Twice I’ve given blood. Passed out both times. Low blood pressure.

They wouldn’t take my blood. It didn’t pass the test to qualify. Then I found out that I have thyroid issues.

I tried to donate blood once. Too many questions. Where did you get it? Whose blood is it? Why is it in a bucket?

If you do a double-red-cell donation they take a quart, but they put most of it back.
