No, she doesn’t. Lab partners should be decided by Mr. Galvin, and changes should be rare. Sorry if I sound like a Francis, but it’s just illogical. Then again, this is the comic where seagulls ride bicycles.

2.5/10 There is a serious flaw here. How will being Chad’s partner in science make him like Gina more? Is this like some Stockholm Syndrome type thing?

I wish they added a better joke to this one. When was the last time there was an actual joke. I’m gonna go read “Big Nate: From the Top” to remind me of what Big Nate is.

The April fools arc is probably going down the drain this year. Not unless this arc ends tomorrow. To be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened.

This is a lose-lose for everyone. Gina’s grade will go down due to the distraction of being near Chad, Chad has to work with someone he doesn’t really like, Daphne has already decided this isn’t in her interests, and Nate’s obstinate narcissism is going to backfire on him again.

Daphne seems like an interesting character. It would be nice if she remained Nate’s lab partner and they could get to know each other better. I hope she doesn’t run away screaming at the first opportunity.

Okay I like Daphne already. Granted she’ll likely be here and gone just for the arc, but again I can HOPE this is a new recurring character.

And so begins the girlfriend (maybe? I am writing this before we truly know if it will happen) arc no one saw coming!

One commenter did point out that once a decade Nate gets a GF (Angie in the late 90’s, Kelly in the early 2000’s, Trudy (and technically Daisy from the books) in the mid 2000’s). It was about time, tbh, 7 whole years almost.

I’ll get into more detail about Daphne and my thoughts on this ship (since I am a Nate and Dee Dee shipper, so on the one hand it hurts but on the other I can’t deny it’s cute), but for now let’s talk about the strip.

It’s a decent gag again, can’t lie! It’s such a Nate line in that last panel, and Daphne’s reaction is understandable and kinda funny, especially with where this all leads to.

Another solid 7/10, this isn’t a groundbreaking joke, but heck, I just dig it!

Gina likes Chaaaaad.
