I went through a period of my life when I felt exactly like this. I felt I had to hide a situation I was going through. Looking back with older and wiser eyes, I would have handled things completely differently
I completely resonate with this . . . growing up, my family imposed a construct personality on me that didn’t fit, and got quite dysphoric with time. The breakaway (joining the Navy) provided me another construct that worked very very well, and provided valuable work skills for afterward. As I approach retirement, I’m starting to wonder which of the still-buried pieces I’ll be able to pick up, for another transformation.
Hi, Everyone! I noticed the updated comic did not refresh here. The version that is slightly adjusted and fixes the typo is available on other channels if you are interested.

I’ve always felt that we are like two people. The one we show the world and the one we keep locked inside. Not sure I want to unlock that door.

YES! No sense trying to hide who you are – that just make you unhappy.

If your reputation and your character could ever meet, they wouldn’t recognize each other.

Matt’s title on his Facebook page is Stream of Conciousness. Opossum is fancy-diving right into that stream of consciousness, lol!

Jackson Browne: Doctor My Eyes
Doctor, my eyes have seen the worst,
I try to show my best as it comes first
Now I wonder if I must continue to pretend?
For I know the world only sees half of me!
…….
For I am fearful of what might be
If I were let the people see
What my real self looks like in reality.
…….
Doctor, my eyes see what is really real
Will I be judged
If I act as I really feel?
…….
Doctor, my eyes reflect my fear
Of what may happen, it is clear
But I’ve decided that I will never give in!
I will be who I will be,
Won’t worry if no one likes me
I’ll just concentrate on liking them!
…….
Doctor, my eyes see what they really see
From now on I will be what I will be!
