Dansko style shoes with good arch support are the best for me. They are also worn by a lot of health care professionals who have to be on their feet all the time.
Stopped wearing shoes when I retired. Before that I had to extra wide. I remember the first time I wore leather sneakers, before that my shoes always felt too tight.
My dear Mom always skimped on shoes (and just about everything). Probably a depression era habit. She was in her late eighties when I took over her finances and helped her with housing. I took her shopping to a shop that specialized in shoes for the elderly. She asked me “How much?” I lied and said $12. Of course they were 10X that. She commented that the shoes were so comfortable and price was “just right”.
I don’t care if they have day-glo stripes, air cushion insoles, self-tying laces or are worn by rich athletes. Give me a shoe wide enough that it doesn’t hurt my feet when my metatarsals start to spread.
Walmart girls or boys size 4 sneakers. Preferably and currently wearing boys black flat bottom skateboard sneakers. Do they last? Well, I had been wearing long enough before Covid that when we went shopping about 6 months into Covid I had to replace one of the laces as it had ripped – still wearing them – so well over 3 years -maybe 4 years – and the other lace has not needed replacing – they are my everyday shoes.

This guy is about the oldest plugger I’ve seen here. At least he’s not heavy like most of the pluggers.
