Yeah, Lacey is def a no brainer. Go in peace you amazing woman. I missed this arc it’s first time out. Lost my husband to cancer just a few years ago. He was only 57 and he was love of my life; we were married 30 years. . So this week has been really hard. Doonesbury is family. Been reading it since I was 7. I remember when Lacey’s husband died right after she won election, as he photoed a rare Bachmans Warbler. It’s been a 10 Kleenex week for me. Rock on.
After salvation, faith is embraced not questioned. It is just part of existence. The joy of being with God means no more doubt, no more uncertainty. Faith is just another state of being that is a beautiful condition of entering the His Heavenly Kingdom! Praise the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit!
Trudeau’s take on heaven (at least in this strip) feels kind of similar to C.S. Lewis’ – the idea that someone still has to grow even after dying to get there. And that we might need someone to help us. That’s what he expresses in The Great Divorce- “You can lean on me all the way. I can’t absolutely carry you, but you need have almost no weight on vour own feet: and it will hurt less at every step."
A dear friend died last year. He was in hospice, and knew he was facing death, and was again asking these questions, and pondering the existence of God. As he moved in and out of consciousness, he first said, “it is not either/or; it is both.” and then later – “it is both, and I choose love.”
“Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.” ― Marcus Aurelius

You mean even people who aren’t certain can get in? That’s not what all the “books” say.

Live this life as though there is no other. That will be its own reward.

Just look at the size of the honkers on these two. I wonder if that’s what drew them together?

Even though I am not religious, I am sure I will be reunited with my last husband when it’s my time.

God says you must have faith, the books say you must have religion. They are not the same thing.
