This reminds me of “The Battle of the Klondike Bar.”
As I was consuming one, a friend of mine asked if she could have a bite. I told her no, but I would get her one of her own. She said, “I don’t want a whole one.” I replied, “Well, I do.”
I won that battle, our freezer’s stock was depleted by one Klondike bar.
I had a “starving” actress friend I would take out to dinner occasionally. She would spend considerable time studying the menu, then we would order and share four meals, most of which would go home with her to last the rest of the week. Make no mistake, she was a LOT of fun to hang out with.
I can’t recall the details, but somewhere in the deep mists and fogs of time past, my wife invented The Last Bite Rule. Simply, it means that, when eating out (particularly with fast food), the one who finishes first can call “Last Bite Rule!” and claim a bite of the other’s meal. Usually it benefits her, but she’s prudent enough not to invoke it too often, or to take too large a bite. I guess she thought it was cute.
Married 38 years this month. I guess I thought so too.

I had a friend who took the Liberty to just reach over and take food from my plate. It really is rude and I hated it!

If we go to a restaurant, Hubby will offer me a taste. I never have to ask.

Can’t blame him for that. And possibility of covid-sharing is just one reason to back off.
