While I believe there is a Creator of some sort I also believe in chance. If I see the face of someone I’ve not seen before in the grocery store I don’t wonder, “Why has God put that person in my life?” And I resent those who feel a chance encounter with me was intended by their concept of God to give them a chance to share the joys of their narrow-minded fellowship.
For those, starting with LawrenceS, who want to read more into this than is in the comic, remember that God is not mentioned at all. It is entirely possible to wonder what you can learn from someone or if there’s a reason someone has entered your life and not be thinking about God and in particular, not be thinking about the Christian view of God. There are other religions and other belief systems. Anyway, the other thing to remember is that this is an amusing comic strip. It is possible to laugh at the cat’s reaction and move on without any more profound thoughts.
Opal, you can fool Nelson, you can fool Muffin, heck, you can fool your self but you can’t fools us! Break out the TP and clean out that crap you laid in Nelson’s ears. Over-the-top Legend in her own mind!

& Why is she (why are we/why am I) put into the lives of other people?
What/how can she (we/I) teach or benefit others?

If you can’t feed me, at least give me a good massage! That’ll set me up for my nap which should last about 15 hours.

An appropriate name for some cats should be “Hermit.” My niece’s cat HATES meeting new people. Men, especially, cause her to run under the bed.
