This is exactly what our neighbors think! Talking about the- don’t know 4th-5th sleepless weekend in a row because of some big parties in the area with blasting beats.
It’s so quiet where I live. My former house was near both a grade school and a middle school, and eventually the house next door was bought by a couple with many foster children. They were nice people and good kids, but they had a lot of them. Behind me there were two teenage girls who loved to play music at full blast outside. One 3-day weekend they played one song, over and over, while I was upstairs trying to write a master’s thesis. I will never forget that song. Geese are the loudest thing around here, and I enjoy the wildlife near me.
I don’t know why, but it is clear that the worse a person’s taste in music, the more loudly they feel compelled to play it so everyone will know what bad taste they have.
We used to provide music for the neighborhood on Sunday afternoons.
We lived in an apartment house on base. Everyone had little kids. Sunday was the community cook-out. I had the grill down my end and another neighbor had the kiddie pool.
I was only supposed to mow back about 50 feet, but I mowed back about 200 feet so we could play ball in the “backyard.”
We put our stereo speakers in the windows and everyone had a party. Even some of the bachelor officers came over. They brought the soda for the kids and beer for themselves, as long as we fed them.
One Saturday morning I awoke to the sound of a tractor towing a lawnmower – I look out and I see the base Civil Engineers mowing my backyard. It turns out one of my neighbors was the guy in charge of mowing the common areas on base. He put us on the schedule claiming that our backyard got enough use to be considered a “common area.”

Yep. Had CCR cranked up real good this afternoon. Fortunately, I’m in a house, not an apartment. And the nearby highway noise drowns it out.

Soon aunty will throw her back out. Then, the music ends with a scream or words inappropriate for this comic.
