I figure they named it “Venus” because it’s the brightest object in our night sky besides the moon.

The flaming hair should be a clue.

I didn’t notice until the second day I looked at this (hey! it’s a marvelous piece of art! we should look at it at least twice!) that when Venus plunges through the flower, in the last panel it’s become a skirt for her.
