I think there was an Oscar-winning movie made about this. The title was “High Noon”.

Woman Setting the Clock or Winding the Clock

    Paste (including the quote marks)

    "Category:Hugo Kauffmann" site=commons.wikimedia.org

(syntax supported by the Google, Bing, Yahoo, Ecosia, and Yandex search engines) in the browser address bar (or search for it using one of those search engines) and chose the first Category: containing ff link found (Hugo Kaufmann was a sculptor), and once there, search for the text 1893 and click its link for info and links that point to more info about this roughly A5 paper size painting.

Again, a larger strip image is shown by (Ctrl- or right-) clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s MASTERPIECE #3146 (June 11, 2023) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment, and using the dropdown menu (even larger if you trim what’s after .png from the URL). I have added a comment there pointing to the blog entry with my comment containing info about this artist I used to point to here. So far, 2 works by him have been used here, the December 7, 2022, strip being the prior.

When I realized that my entries here on GoComics were no longer visible to anyone other than me, I began writing my comments on Steve Melcher’s blog and continued to do so until my “exile” ended and most (but, unfortunately, not all) of my earlier posts were restored. Copied below is my entry for today from the blog:

/// It’s the time to be setting clocks back,

so it’s also the time to keep track

    of their home’s smoke alarm,

which will keep them from harm.

(When there’s smoke, Grandpa’s cough turns to hack.)

    /// There’s a very precarious climb

just to see the clock and set the chime.

    “Tell me why,” she’d beseech,

“Hang it out of my reach?”

Grandpa’s answer to her: “It’s high time.”

/// The real reason that Grandpa preferred

the clock up near the ceiling occurred

    every hour. It would fall,

(if hung low), off the wall

from cat pouncing upon cuckoo bird.
