ANY section of grass between a road and a public sidewalk would be suspect!

Here in the UK, summer vacation begins next month. One of my 1970s memories is writing 7.7.77 in my schoolbook on 7 July 1977. We broke up from school about a week after that.

Besides making me cackle, this is an historic moment in Red and Rover’s life each year. Summer fun has begun!

School didn’t get out that late in the year back then in my part of the country. Usually June 1st or 2nd at the latest.

Where I live there was almost no snow and not many really cold days this year. The schools didn’t use many, if any weather days, and school ended the Wednesday before Memorial Day.

When I was in school…and I’m pushing 74…summer vacation was from Memorial Day to Labor Day. And no Spring Break.
