When I lived in Corpus Christi, back in the 1970’s, there was a place to buy 32 ounce snow cones. There was usually a line of 10 or 20 people, but it moved fast.
It’s just another day in Paradise down here in Machala, Ecuador ( and fireworks are almost an everyday occurrence in my little patch ) but my best wishes go out to all of you up in the U.S.A. to have fun and celebrate Independence Day. ¡FELIZ CUARTRO DE JULIO!
Yep, it’s all “American”. The entire hemisphere is the “American” hemisphere, so anyone born in this hemisphere is technically an “American”, including Canadians, even if they don’t want to admit it. ;)
Pizza for lunch and chop suey for supper. I figured “elote” was corn but I looked it up to be sure, and a couple hits called it “street corn,” and I couldn’t help but think “How do they get corn to grow in the street?”
I’m sure they are celebrating July 4th in Mexico like some people do May 5th in the USA. Of course, you won’t see that. Why they celebrate the 5th in the USA is beyond me.
I don’t understand why snow cones still exist after shaved ice was invented. It’s the latter that’s actually snow-like (and much better at holding the syrup).
What is elote? It looks like an ear of corn. And I’d love some of that pineapple juice. Outback has a great twist on a piña colada. It’s better than a frozen piña colada. It’s called the Piña Koala and it’s AMAZING!

Don’t forget that some part or all of 8 U.S. states were once part of Mexico!

Go a little heavy on the rum, if you don’t mind.

I’m in. With seconds all around. Have fun, play safe. I’ll be the guy safely napping under the tree.

I don’t understand why snow cones are a part of the Mexican-flavored holiday menu.
