A car nut friend of mine finally came to the conclusion it’s cheaper to buy a near perfect classic than try to make a classic junker near perfect.

Classic cars are like race horses, and motorboats … a black hole that you perpetually throw money into.

The hard work is the fun part, right. So that years from now you can tell little Baldo Jr. about how you rebuilt your own car.

How many years (comic strip years) has Baldo owned that car? At least put a tarp over it!

No, there isn’t, Baldo.

That is because the people who design cars don’t have to work on them. My father had a car that in order to replace the last two spark plugs you had to lower the engine.

Sure, Baldo – pay, pay and pay some more!

Because if it was easy, everyone would do it.

Have someone else do the work but it will cost you way more than if you do it yourself!!!!

Realistically, the best move would be to sell it for whatever you can get, use the money to start saving/investing, keep doing that over the years, then buy one. However, this is a comic strip, and the car is just a generator for new strips. It’s likely never going to get any better, just like Baldo probably won’t ever leave high school.

Some people solve the problem by buying a new one, but I’m pretty sure that’s not within Baldo’s budget.
