The kid is learning something new about someone she has seen in only one context for a year or more. It is a good lesson in trying to see new things in people we take for granted.
And speaking of taking something for granted it’s a walk with a view, folks. Simple activity with one digital aid. And, according to the arc, Mr. Spaetzle is enjoying what he is doing and getting the benefits. Why clutter it up with stuff?
REAL HIKING INDEED. Specks (I gave him that trail name, IF he likes, I hope he will consider keeping it) One foot in front of the other for a million laps. What a great guy. What great cartooning. Good on Mr Spaetzle. I admire Specks.
I can walk and day dream for miles. But then I realize I have to walk back the same distance. Those miles back seem much longer. Oh well, stop for some ice cream.
I understand that there are electronic stimulators and mechanical simulators for people who are comatose for long periods to keep their muscles from atrophying. Maybe I can get one of those doodads to help me exercise when I’m asleep.

It WOULD be fun to have virtual unreality goggles to go with your virtual hike. Also earbuds. And smell-o-vision of some kind.

Dr. Spaetzle in his current condition, hiking 3.2 miles around the cemetery is challenging.

1) 3.2 miles a day is a good amount of walking, especially if you’re Dr. Spaetzle’s age.
2) I don’t get why he pretends he’s someplace else instead of just enjoying the cemetery. He also can walk THROUGH the cemetery.

How many more times are we going to be told that Spaetzle is hiking? Is there ever a punchline?

Reminds me of a friend of mine who does ultra marathons. He did 100 miles, back and forth on the four-mile road where his house is.
The good thing was he could go inside his house for nutrition / hydration / dry clothes. The bad thing is he ran that same 4 miles 25 times in a row…
He reallly enjoys running.

It’s ridiculous how obsessed people are with this guy’s walks. Back off!

Living next to a cemetery would be great… the neighbors are quiet, they mostly keep to themselves…

That is actually a virtual reality I just might try.

When did the Appalachian Trail move out west? It goes from Maine to Georgia – that’s about as EAST as you can get.
