I know there are some schools where the students present a danger, but I think that armor is mostly to protect them from the fanatics who invade their schools armed with AR-15’s. (Not that it would help much against those weapons.) Most teachers and former teachers I know would bring protective gear for their students, too.
I went to Catholic school, an Elementary school ran by nuns and a high school ran by priests (both Augustinians), the nuns were much more strict. My mom tried to teach Music in an LAUSD school decades ago, she quit after two weeks because of the lack of respect towards authority by the students of the school, she then went to Ramona Convent in Los Angeles CA which sadly closed after the Northridge earthquake because it was prohibitively expensive to fix and ran their music department. In her experience, kids who go to private/Catholic schools have better behaved students, makes sense when parents pay a tuition and the school provides much better academics and deportment.

These days teachers don’t have any support from either the school admins or the parents so this isn’t so far fetched unfortunately. ;/

Not a bad marketing idea. Sadly, I’m thinking tiny tot body armor is not a bad investment. …so sad
