The Moody Blues did a song titled 22,000 Days, referring to the average length of our stay on Earth. The actual number is closer to 27,900 days (76 years) but the outcome is the same. My life insurance is betting me almost 9:1 I will live to be 80 years old… another 9 years.
And the more years that pass, the quicker the whizz. As in almost POOF! Where did it all go-so soon. RiP Jimmy Buffett: “I can see the day when my hair’s full grayAnd I finally disappear” One Particular Harbor . . .
You are all missing the point of this comic! It’s very poignant, about the passage of time, and how two old people are lying awake in bed at night hearing it go by and wondering how much more of it they have left.

Made me think of this:
Oh, East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet,
Till Earth and Sky stand presently at God’s great Judgment Seat;
But there is neither East nor West, Border, nor Breed, nor Birth,
When two strong men stand face to face, though they come from the ends of the earth!

For a moment I thought that it referred to how often a senior might have to get up during the night.

Our wedding anniversary is on the winter solstice. We like to think our marriage brings light back to the world.

I hope the whizz is not coming from Ludwig. They’ll need to change the sheets.

The original Equinauts strip was September 22, 2019. GoComics won’t let me do a link.
