This strip is from April 1966!? My mom was just a year old. Now I’m curious how long comics in the newspaper has been a thing and was BC one of the OG’s on the comics page?

So it’s not that extraordinary that the bird talked?

April 1st, 1966, was a Friday. It was Day 91 of 1966. The decade was the Swinging Sixties.

Songs that were on top of the music charts, The Ballad Of The Green Berets – Sgt. Barry Sadler and The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore – The Walker Brothers. On television, popular shows “The Ed Sullivan Show”, “Hullabaloo”, “I Dream of Jeannie”, and “Batman”.In the mid-to-late 1960s, the miniskirt became a favored clothing item among women. Sau Chung began a hunger strike at the entrance of the Star Ferry Terminal in Hong Kong’s Central District, sparking the Hong Kong 1966 riots. Hubert Humphrey was on the cover of Time magazine. Operation Orange was a 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines search and destroy operation near Thường Ðức, 40 km southwest of Da Nang. The operation resulted in 57 VC and 18 Marines killed.

In all a depressing day.

Only in BC is a talking bird less amazing than a talking… uh … Grog.
