The CDC says there’s a new COVID variant! You know what that means . . . Dana Summers and his fellow knee-jerk right-wing cartoonists will roll out their tired old lies and paranoid claptrap again!

Is there an election in fall of 2023? Can you cite any Democrat that has said this?

It’s safer these days to mail in, and besides making it easier for many others to place their vote.

Mail in ballots are perfectly acceptable, Washington state has total mail in ballots, that’s why we were the only blue state in lying traitor Trumps red map of the USA where he claimed he won and mail in ballots were ‘illegal’. Republicans are still supporting traitor Trump’s crazy lie that the majority of voters ‘stole the election’ no matter how many times it has been disproved. Trump is going to trial for trying to defraud the majority of voters and casting doubt on USA elections when there wasn’t any to begin with.

Every mailed in ballot needs to be verified to be from a legal voter. The reason the mailed in ballots are not counted right away is to verify that the person who mailed in the ballot had not voted in person.

And for the record, most of the people who had tried to cast multiple ballots voted for the orange face buffoon; who actually encouraged his people to break the law by voting early, voting in person and mailing in ballots.

Both parties have said we had the safest and most secure election in our history in 2020.

Summers and Republicans HATE anything that makes it easier or more convenient to vote.

Voter suppression is now part of their DNA.

Trump voted by mail from 2004 on. He only voted in person in Nov 2020 because he was getting heat for voting by mail in the primary. [Snopes]

Mail in ballots, the safest most secure way to have honest elections. Allows more voters to participate and take the time to actually review their candidates and issues prior to returning their ballots. Also has the least chance of voter fraud, proven. All good reasons for the republicans to stifle their use

Funny thing: not too many years ago, it was the GOP really pushing mail-in ballots, because they figured it would improve turnout from elderly and deployed voters (who they anticipated would lean GOP). During the pandemic, more people voted mail-in and Biden won the Presidency, so their messaging abruptly changed to “mail-in is evil!”

Funny thing, that. GOP is about whatever gets them votes. Me, I think the main problem with our electoral process is that too few of us are voting, period. Our voting rate is frankly embarrassing for a supposed leader of democracy. Anything that gets more Americans voting is good in my book, and I am instantly suspicious of any obstacle put in the path of voting.

For years the Republican party has encouraged mail in ballots. They made it easier for the older Republicans to vote. Trump decides to use mail-ins for a scapegoat in his loss and BINGO! The Republicans are against mail in ballots. Plus the older voters have at least some education because they went to school before all the Republican cuts to education funding. They aren’t a solid Republican block anymore because most can recognize lies!

Mail in ballots have the highest level of fraud.

We here in Colorado have had Mail-in voting for years with no problems. And the fact Boebert somehow won the 3rd District (ugh) proves Mail-in voting does not play favorites.

The reluctance against mail ballots is only because apparently more democrats use mail-in than republicans. So, therefore, republicans hate them.

I will continue to mail in my ballot. I am disabled and this allows me to use my right to vote. The GOP here actually pushed a bill through for mail in voting for out state. As soon as they saw it didn’t afford them the voters they wanted, they tried to take it away. Luckily, the court stopped them.

Commenters are missing the completely wrong point of the cartoon which is, what Dem would ever think it’s a good idea for people to sicken and die so they might get a tiny electoral edge? It’s more likely that reps would think it’s an opportunity to scare people into avoiding the polls or just buying whatever rat poison their donors are pushing as a cure.

I live in a Republican super majority state and we have had mail in ballots for years! I love it because I’ve gotten ballots in the mail when the only thing being voted on was a School District tax or a local mayor or other secondary election I may not be aware of. Plus, waiting in line before or after work can be a pain. Ballots are checked as they come in to make sure the signatures match and follow up if there is any question. There has never been any question of election security in my state until the last election. But then since Republicans won there couldn’t be fraud — apparently the benchmark for determining fraud is if a Democrat wins.

Only in states where every voter is to be enfranchised, every vote counts — and every vote is counted.

I know this is a dumb question but here it is: Why do the Republicans want to make it harder for people to vote, other than to stop them from voting?

Five states conduct all elections by mail-in ballots, and have done so for years. There never has been a whiff of scandal. Indeed, the only whiffs of scandal in modern elections are a mixture paranoid fantasies and malicious trouble-making on the part of “conservatives”.
