While Alan doesn’t exactly have the traditional heroic personality, he does seem to act decisively when the chips are down. Bashing through a pair of steel doors when they were being chased by monsters and saving the young girl here are good examples of him acting quickly in dire situations.
I don’t think he’s about to faint, I think he’s about to perform another act of heroism. Maybe the final act in the story arc of an unlikely hero, which is self sacrifice. It remains to see, whether he’ll take the zero-knife and cut the hand off himself, or…
Sadly more likely – argue, that unless the wound is cauterized immediately, he’s likely to lose consciousness and slow the group down, therefore they should go ahead without him. Whichever the case, he’s become one of the characters that shine bright in the dark world of Endtown.
That vibration means that there’s no time for discussion. The last one gave just enough warning to snatch Phoebe from doom. I don’t think there’s enough time to argue, or to cut anything. Only enough time for Ala to shove Duffy and Terrance away. I really hope I’m wrong, and Alan can be saved. Dang it, we just went through this with Phoebe!
“These are just cartoon characters. They are not real people.” “These are just cartoon characters. They are not real people.” Maybe if I say it often enough, my heart will move back down out of my throat.
I assume the zero-knife will cut the wall as well as his arm. Cut out a chunk of wall around the stump of the arm and Alan won’t bleed. Plus, a “handy” new bludgeon!
Some had suggested to cut a piece of the wall out to save Allen’s arm. Well that would mean a piece of the material that is expanding with a snap, will still be with him. That might lead to the small piece of the wall “eat” Allen’s arm as it too will expands, just as the wall are doing.
And there’s nothing left to snap-back except for the entire corridor that they’re in. I still think it’s possible for them to pop out of the reality pretzel machine. If the bubble is collapsing, then whoever falls out of the bubble is on the other side of the bubble, and the outside of the bubble is the topsider experiment room. Which has it’s own dangers going on…
There is another option…….two in fact. He’s considering them now. One is leave me to my fate….the SNAP will come. Two….kill me now….the SNAP will take anyway….and the loss of blood and pain just isn’t worth it just for a short bit of survival. So as said by Gandalf as he hung off the collapsed bridge….Run You Fools!
I wonder, if Alan really does decide to park it here and let the nothing erase him, what sort of survivor’s guilt Phoebe is expected to shoulder, knowing she lives at the expense of another? What a horrible thing that must be to put on somebody.
Musings with my morning coffee: Looking at the expression on Alan’s face, he knows he’s in imminent danger and might reflexively pull himself free via panicked brute strength. Whether he pulls a chunk of wall away with him, or “un-fuses” himself from the wall remains to be seen. Those walls aren’t typical drywall!
The other thought is … this is the first time Duffy was made to live? So every other time this set of events happened- maybe they didn’t rescue the kid, maybe they did, maybe Allen never had this situation. What was the saying? A life for a Life? Wouldn’t that be the ultimate Irony- Duffy lives and Allen dies.

I thought that when he said he was going to “free him,” it might involve freeing him from his earthly bonds…

The last panel is blurred, isn’t it? Duffy is going to get them all killed if he continues to delay.

Time for Alan to ‘weigh in’ to this discussion…quickly.

Is this Alan’s Arm-ageddon?

Whatever they do, they’d better snap to it, or the walls will snap to it for them…
Poor Alan is being treated like a hospital patient: discussed but not consulted.

If Duffy keeps screwing things up he could become wall art along with Alan
Coyoty Premium Member about 1 year ago
Alan may be about to take a third choice, ripping himself away from the wall, and carrying Duffy and Terrance away with him.
