I had to look that 1 up lol apparently “full of the dickens” means full of the devil as dickens is a euphemism for devil (according to Google it’s something people used to say, I’ve never heard it even back in 2003 when this strip is from)

This strip was written before 24/7 webcams.

There’s one I visit just about every morning and I’ve learned that when there’s humans around cats just sleep all the time. It’s only when their owners are present that they run around and do cute stuff.

Ours wasn’t supposed to get up on the mantlepiece where we had a cut glass vase. One morning, when we were leaving for work, we couldn’t find her. She was up there hiding. Saw a movement and got her down. She never went up there again.

It’s a Mouse Conspiracy to make Muffin look bad. Things work that way in cartoons.

A taxidermist can FIX the cat so it is useful as a door stop and doesn’t cause any more problems or kill native birds and wildlife. I saw a book once “101 uses for a dead cat”. They aren’t completely useless.

I took a whole college course about Charles Dickens. After reading several of his long novels, I was full of Dickens. (—

Dickens would be a good name for a cat.

Frankie5466… You are obviously quite young Hon. Us “old folks” have known that expression for many years. It was a way of saying you were full of shi% without actually cursing. lol

“Full of the Dickens”?!? I need a translator. Is Opal referring to 19th century literature? If Muffin speaking in Old English?

Cats are why I have nothing left out that is breakable, and I haven’t had a cat in 15 years due to a slowly developing cat allergy. My desire to keep and protect items that are breakable must be buried deep in my memory. My dog wouldn’t break anything at all. She has better manners than most people I know. (I am so lucky with this dog!) I have blinds instead of curtains and no pictures on walls that can be jumped to easily. I am well trained.
