The moon on the door gives it away. Boys have stars. The full explanation will have to wait, since I don’t want to muck up a COMIC strip with not-funny stuff.
I suppose in the old days it was a pretty luxurious thing to leave the house to poop in out house instead of pooping …..where? A chamber pot? In the bed room? …like city folks?
The only structure of this sort that I’ve seen outside of a L’il Abner cartoon was outside a gas station in rural Georgia in 1970. It was boarded shut and the sign above it read, “Colored.”
That’s when all those newscasts I saw on the everting news in the 1960’s started making sense.
Great movie about the “ridge runners” who delivered the “shine”, out running the revonooers along the back roads. Starred Robert Mitchum, who also wrote and sang the title song. Little known fact is that most of the early drivers and pit crews of the fledgling NASCAR races were the moonshine runners who knew how to get the most out of their engines. “Thunder was his engine, and white lightning was his load.”
It’s got to be the banjo music coming out of the mouse hole. And they appear to go outside to poop, too. Well, about as ‘outside’ as a mouse would want to go, I guess.

Are you going to install indoor plumbing for it or are you going to wait for it to chew through your water pipes?

Seems like a nice mouse, if I were to have a mouse I’d like it

A city mouse would’ve sued them to put in decent plumbing and air conditioning.

Live in the country, killed a rat last night, because they use wherever they have been crawling on, instead of out houses.

Does Wiley talk to the B.C. cartoonists? They both have outhouse gags today.

My local newspaper carries Non Sequitur and when I read it in there, I couldn’t see the outhouse clearly so I didn’t get the gag.

I’m sure Jeff Foxworthy would have fun with this.
