Most European food costs at least twice as much as American Fast Slop, and tastes ten times better. Not to forget, it’s less likely to kill ya in the long run.
I took French in high school in the early ‘60s. IIRC the French Academy was trying hard then to eliminate Americanisms. In foreign language shows on TV and from hearing people speaking languages other than English in stores etc, I’ve learned how pervasive we are. OK seems universal. On a German language show I’ve been watching recently I’ve heard “super” a lot along with OK.
I think when this cartoon first ran, French people were protesting economic imperialism by wrecking global fast-food restaurants like McDonald’s. Somewhere in there, the French Academy also said French people should not use the foreign term “Internet.” I’ve forgotten what native French term the Academy said to use, because virtually no one ever used it instead of “Internet.”

Most Asian food is cheaper than AFS, and is still ten times better.

It’s important that people don’t like what they’re not supposed to like.
