To save your frustrations, why donât you just buy the candy a few hours before dark and leave it in your car until Trick and Treat time. Thatâs what I do.
My mom used to steal my candy when I was a child, and claim that itâd gone bad so sheâd had to throw it away. To be fair, I only played with the gummy snakes and other candy and had no interest in eating it, so it was better that somebody got to eat it at some point.
It is so true. It was not the kids I worried about, it was the dad lol!
I always did two shops, one a few weeks before halloween and then the second shop was the day before/morning of halloween, when everything went on sale. That way, everyone in the house could eat some candy for a few weeks and then there was still candy for the trick or treaters.
And yes, I only handed out chocolate bars, full sized :-))
No trick or treaters in my rural neighborhood, but I still buy bags of candy. Evenly divide between husband and myself. His will be gone in a week and mine lasts a few months.
I bought two small boxes of full CHOCLAAAAATE bars and two large boxes of âGrandmaâs Cookies.â Naturally, I did some âquality control tests,â but I am now bagging them up! (Amazon has AMAZING spooky-shaped paper clips FYI. I got some skull ones.)
Our mother had a bicycle lock she used to lock the cupboard over the refrigerator so we couldnât get get at the chocolate chips and candy bars. It worked well.

Whoâs taking April trick-or-treating, and whoâs staying home handing out candy? It would seem weird receiving candy from your dentist

Iâll buy the candy the week before, then just put it up in my closet. Having it in the kitchen cupboards invites too much temptation.

My late mother used to do that when I was a child. LOL

If the Good Lord did not want Elly sneaking sweets, He would have made gluttony a sin.

Stockpiling Halloween leftover candy for next year is an adventure in futility.

In my house the trick is that the treats last until Halloween.

We just obeyed our mother when she asked us not to touch it. Thatâs solved a lot of problems.

Right there in the final panel is a great example of why I always said that hippie was short for hypocrite.
