This seems to be the beginning of the real Halloween story arc. As I said over a month ago, the ouija board arc would have been appropriate for Halloween.
And, yes, that sentiment is not expressed in any of Doyle’s stories.
But I love the line for that very reason. That, and the fact that it always makes me think of the apocryphal story about Gertrude Stein doing her impression of Groucho Marx.
Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson decide to go on a camping trip. After dinner and a bottle of wine, they lay down for the night, and go to sleep.
Some hours later, Holmes awoke and nudged his faithful friend.
“Watson, look up at the sky and tell me what you see.”
Watson replied, “I see millions of stars.”
“What does that tell you?”
Watson pondered for a minute.
“Astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets.”“Astrologically, I observe that Saturn is in Leo.”“Horologically, I deduce that the time is approximately a quarter past three.”“Theologically, I can see that God is all powerful and that we are small and insignificant.”“Meteorologically, I suspect that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow.”“What does it tell you, Holmes?”
Holmes was silent for a minute, then spoke: “Watson, you idiot. Someone has stolen our tent!”
“It may be that you are not yourself luminous, but that you are a conductor of light. Some people without possessing genius have a remarkable power of stimulating it.”

I call dibs on being Watson. (Yes, I do realize that I’m about a millennium too old for the part.)

Spud could be Watson, Wallace could be Mycroft Holmes, and Amelia could be Moriarity

Rose, I cannot even begin to tell you how much that is not helping!

If Rose is Sherlock, Spud would be a natural as Watson, Wallace (or Sterling) could play Moriarty, and Amelia would make a perfect Irene Adler.

I’m calling it; Rose is related to that annoying Caufield kid from Frazz. She’s just not smug and self-righteous like he is.

My Take:
Rose – Holmes
Moriarty – Sterling or Amelia
Mycroft – Wallace
Lestrade – Spud
Irene Adler – Amelia or Sterling
Watson – The seagull
- The Story – The Search for the Lost Red Sea Glass!
