Not sure home schooling has any better of a reputation. And the grades aren’t transferable to a higher institute of learning.

Here’s another interesting fact: Much like how peanut butter was invented by George Washington Carver, the potato chip was also invented by another black man named George Crum. He came up with this delicious delicacy when he was slicing a French fry extra thin for a customer at his restaurant. You learn something new everyday.

John Harvey Kellogg is also frequently falsely attributed to being the reason several things are done in American culture and the reason he invented corn flakes is also falsely attributed to a different reason (He did have insane beliefs but the things attributed to him were actually popularized by different doctors and he disagreed with). Once these things get out there, they take on a life of their own.

Sigh. Actually, she’s got a great idea. Unfortunately, a lot of parents know even less about history.

Such a mish-mash of misconceptions! I feel like I’m reading Get Fuzzy with Satchel and Bucky having one of their usual conversations!

Kellogg developed Frosted Flakes to limit the amount of sugar a kid would consume after watching his 10 year old boy dump like 5 teaspoons of sugar on his corn flakes.

I’ll bet they could accurately name all of the Ninja Turtles and recite the McDonalds song word for word.

My granddaughter is taking AP history in high school, and had her final the other day. An example of one of the questions: What was the cause of the Civil War (USA)? A. Slavery. B. States rights. C. Status of new states joining the union. All three answers are correct, but the students were supposed to mark the BEST answer, though no criteria was given to determine that, so it was basically the teacher’s opinion. Now, why do kids not understand history in this country?
