If Chief hires somebody smarter he had to pay him/her more. So that won’t happen!

It may cost you a money bag or two. Good help doesn’t come cheap.

He would miss Brutus.

Brutus, it must be something personal. From all of the bags off money next to Chief’s desk it certainly isn’t economic. The cozy business is looking cozy with you it its’ employment. Not that that would make you feel any better.

He’s biding his time until Kamala or George Santos becomes avaiable.

Now that would require someone with unique disqualifications.

How will Rancid ever find someone so unqualified?

How about Gladys comes in on even numbered days and I only come in on odd numbered days for a while?

Hey, although there are five smaller moneybags on the floor, when the Chief calls you into his office and pushes the fattest moneybag with the largest dollar sign on it, towards you, Brutus, TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN!

That should be just like Veeblefester, to get our hero to find his own replacement then fire him. But I don’t think the Chief would want to pay the salary the replacement would require…

but you’d miss him too much. :J

Brutus, sometimes it pays to stay at the water cooler and keep stum.

There will not be this comic strip if he gets rid of Brutus.

He offered his help and the boss said No in an insulting way. Bad form indeed from the Boss. He’s fortunate for Brutus’s loyalty. Brutus should at least look at other options and scout around at other businesses. Might just shake up the Boss……

Well, Brutus is safe, then. There’s noone that could replace him as noone would put up with what he puts up with from Bossman.

Seems like more money bags than usual, stock prices must be up

Back in the early 2000s when Nortel Networks collapsed a friend of mine who worked there shared the same name as one of the VPs. He accidently got an email advising there would be a massive lay off the next day.

He’s upset because he can’t find anyone that’s more competent than Brutus.

Brutus thinks, “I must be irreplaceable, or Veeblefester would have replaced me long ago.”…

Those two will always work together. I don’t think they can function separately.

Brutus knows the Boss won’t replace him because he needs him as his scapegoat. If he hired someone competent Rancid would have to take the blame himself

Veebs could never find anyone who would put up with the abuse Brutus does for the small salary he pays Brutus.
