Many years ago, my folks were visiting me in Arizona. I made stuffed chiles poblanos one night with ground beef, yellow rice, and cheese. My father’s comment was, " This is tastier than your mother’s stuffed bell peppers!"
Needless to say that Dad’s attempt at a compliment did not go down well with Mom!
Just had arroz con pollo for lunch, but with beets and too much Korean fish sauce (didn’t look like much when I sprinkled it in, but packed a lot of salt). My wife wasn’t hungry enough for the chicken and potatoes I first suggested, and the last of the rice from last Friday’s Indian freed more fridge than the potatoes would have.

I knew he’d say that.

Tia Carmen make Stuffed Poblanos anyway. That would serve Baldo right.

I’ll take either. Save me a place.

For those of us who didn’t know, Poblanos are a mild chili peper.

How about chiles rellenos? … or, a chiles rellenos casserole con pollo?

Stuff the poblanos with arroz con pollo.

Baldo, you are this close to being stuffed in a poblano.

What, not empanadas?

I like arroz con pollo, but I also like pablanos and as long as they aren’t stuffed with tripe or other offal, I’d like it too.

She would never say stuffed poblanos because they’re called chiles rellenos.

Silly Baldo. The correct answer to Tia Carmen’s question was “Yes.”

I’d gladly take whichever. They’re both delicious!

“Whatever you make is fine with me” is one of the biggest landmines a home chef can face. :-D
