At night, Maria used the sifter as an instrument with the folk band she played with.

wheat from chaff with the sieve she is lifting.

Golden grains will be sold.

(She would sell them as gold,

if she knew the first thing about grifting.)

Mary was a city girl, so she she hadn’t thought through how she was going to collect all the sifted grain.

Right on top of an ant hill!

Her shoulder is throbbing with pain,/

And the reason is painfully plain:/

Her rotator cuff/

Has had more than enough./

I hope it can stand the strain…

Ain’t she sweet?/

With attractions she’s replete !/

She’s cute and petite/

And there’s wheat ‘round her feet../

Ain’t she sweet?////

Ain’t she nice?/

Would you like to try a slice ?/

You may sample her twice/

If you meet with her price../

Ain’t she nice? ////

Just cast your eye/In her direction../

And you’ll see why/I’ve this “€£€ction”////

Ain’t she sweet?/

She will not concede defeat:/

She has far too much charm/

To be stuck on the farm/

But ’t she sweet ?

The “Woman Sifting” had a tedious task

And if you wondered about it and were to ask,

She might say shyly (in French, of course)

“It is God’s place for me in life, Sir, perforce.”

But have no young men asked for your hand,

To encircle your finger with gold wedding band?

“Oh, we are but poor peasant folk

Bound to the land as if by a yoke.

“Gold is in churches, to honor the Lord —

Much too expensive for us to afford!”

“I have three sisters of prior birth date.”

So the pretty young lass continued to sift

And the wheat trickled down in cascading drift.

There I left her with a nod and a sigh

And a trickle of tear flowing down from her eye.

I don’t understand why I have to stand way up here.

The miller’s daughter hated separating the grain from the hay. She would forever curse the name of Rumpelstiltskin.

I’ll sure be glad when the shop brings back the hour glass

That could be my Great-Grandma, that was one of her chores on the farm.

“Like sands through the are the Days of Our Lives.”

She was only a girl with a sieve/

When the young Preacher bellowed “Believe !”/

And somehow or other/

She’s now a young mother!/

Ain’t it great what belief can achieve ?

Next, on Undercover Boss, Mary tells all the employees they have to pick up all the grains she dumped out because she actually pays them to do this job.

She Just Works Chaff Days

She’s gonna need a bigger stool.

Since Sylvia’s sieve sifted chaff, she’s shifted and shaken sixty sheaves.

“I still don’t see any of that ‘truth’ stuff…”

She sifts the wheat by undulating her hips! That has caused the male population topause and drool……….

I’m just here to watch her shake it.

She knows how to separate the wheat from the chaff, but not which to keep.

She’s sifting the wheat out onto the sand so she can keep all that beautiful chaff for herself.

Now don’t you tarry with that wheat!

She’s new at the job, but she wants to be head and shoulders above the other girls.

Frankly Melcher, I find you humor chaff-ing.

“I don’t care who he is, I’m darn tired of having to empty his sink trap!”
