Would Marigold love me if I saved her from an evil monster? Or at least write a story about it?

Okay. What if she succeeded in eating your brain?

What if I was a unicorn with 2 horns? Would a unicorn with 2 horns be a bicorn or duocorn? I was surprised that the spell checker didn’t flag bicorn. Apparently it is another mythological beast.

You got her, Phoebe!

What’s not to love?!

I like that Marigold’s first thought is how to rescue their friendship from an impossible situation.

Maybe she could put a toque over it.

I’m just surprised Marigold would even consider that a possibility.

There’s no need to fear the impossible.

I was thinking “what if a prettier unicorn” when I was reading the third panel. Didn’t think Phoebe would actually go there.Now if Phoebe would’ve said prettier unicorn who sparkles more, she’d be dead to Marigold.

Or a pert peevish picketing pixie?

I’m surprized Marigold is able to internalize the concept of a unicorn who’s prettier than her. I would have thought she’d hear that as “…another unicorn who thought she was prettier than you” and just be like, “You mean, like all of the unicorns? No problem.”

You forgot the worm, Phoebe.

This is the first time such a concept has been brought to Marigold’s attention. BEEP BOOP DOES NOT COMPUTE.

Never try the ego of an egocentric.

But… there is no unicorn prettier than I.

I think the answer is there IS no unicorn prettier!

I’m sorry, I’m having trouble here, what does Phoebe say after “What if I was another unicorn?” I see letters, but my brain seems to refuse to comprehend their meaning. [PS R.I.P. conditional “were”]

I “love” the directions this year’s strips are going.

Now we know Marigold’s love is pure as well as unconditional.

I don’t believe I could ever find true and lasting love with just any common mortal being of this world.

It would have to be with Marigold or another unicorn.

I can be hard to live with and I can have moments of serious rage.

Not nearly as much as I used to but it can still happen.

Marigold said that even if Phoebe was a mindless zombie who tried to eat her brain that she would still love her.

Meaning that you’d have to go to the worst extremes for Marigold to stop loving you and even then she might still love you.

Doesn’t this just make some of you feel teary because it shows the true beauty and magic of Marigold inside and out.

Just to think that unlike the unicorns in The Last Unicorn Marigold is not so feral that she can’t even begin to grasp the concept of love.

Thank you Dana for giving us this deeply soulful and truly magical moment.

I will remember this one for a really long time.
