Give up, Earl—you can’t win!

Once again we see that Earl does not know the rules of the game.

No good seed goes unpunished.

That vacuum sucks.

Maybe it’s time to change the bag.

I’ve done that.

Once again, Earl is dadgum if he does or dadgum if he doesn’t.

Yeah, because only CHEATERS do things that work! :D

My theory: It was actually a tiny piece of neutron star gradually decaying in density that was picked up along Earth’s orbit. At the end, it finished decaying just as Earl picked it up. The vacuum’s vibrations helped to de-neutronize it. (My theory is elegantly complex, and the heck with Occam’s Razor.)

I’m surprised he didn’t pop it in his mouth.

Time to get a new vacuum!

As YT’s The Critical Drinker says, “so the plot can continue.” This is the first strip in which I’ve seen Opal use a canister vacuum. I only recall her using an upright in past strips.

So “work smarter, not harder” is cheating, Opal?

The correct method is to bend over, pick up the kernel, throw it back down on the carpet, and sweep it again. In this manner, one teaches the sweeper not to overlook stuff.

It’s not cheating if you do the classic move of dropping the kernel into a different spot and hitting it with the vacuum again.

Opal needs a new vacuum.

My mom always called it the “lazy” way. I always saw it as efficiency.

Ya might need a new VACUUM (or clean it out)

Killed a vacuum last month from long hair wrapped around the spinning brush and burning out the motor that spins the brush. Got a refurbished irobot vacuum for cheap (not dirt cheap) but still need to take it apart after every use from the long hair. Rugs never looked better, but I’ve already filled a $5 bag in less than a month.

Silly Earl, that’s how the terrorist win.

In the meantime, if Earl were the one using the vacuum and Opal got the kernel, she would have deemed Earl as “lazy”.

Hence the adage “Cheater’s always prosper”

Everyone will probably have to fess up about a very similar experience in their past. I’m afraid of how much more I’ll find if I get too close. Vacuuming without my glasses speeds things along.

Not everyone is that limber! But a good pair of long kitchen tongs will work really well and save your back
