“Green Acres” has already been taken.

That name invokes the hot sizzle of electrons zipping through the charging cable.

So—does this mean a new name for the strip, too??

Very lame name, that should be the name of a housing development!

With all the complaints, maybe it should be Belly Acres. Get it? AH HA HA HA HA

How about Assoline Galley?

They tried Electric Avenue but found it was already used.

The strip is going to live on if not ending under the new name “Electric Acres” in the next few months? HEY YOU GUYS…

Pretty trivial for a disaster.

I’m guessing like the EV demand, that name will short out, especially when they discover like the EV mandates the name is less than efficient.

Fine with me I LOVE my EV…………..I’ve had for almost a year.NEVER going back to the age of dinosaurs.

I almost had the name.

Should have gone with “Green Acres”, then we could see Eb, Arnold, Sam Drucker, & Mr. Haney

wall-to-wall solar panels and windmills. what’s next homeless sleeping on the streets? mass shoplifting at the drug store? not legal immigrants kicking and punching cops? Move over NYC – Electric Acres is where everyone will want to move and be “safe and sound” with the progressive movement. I can’t wait! Get me the popcorn, some Coca-Cola, and my apparatus for making sure I’m okay if the police are detained when I call 911. LET ’ER RIP!!!!!!

Electric Acres might have worked for a band name during the first generation garage rock era (Electric Prunes, Strawberry Alarm Clock, Driving Stupid, Unrelated Segments, etc.), but not for the subject matter at hand. Again, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

We all know it won’t happen, so what’s the point in getting worked up over it?

Bad idea, public is not buying those EV auto’s, with not enough locations for charging, danger in fires, and price. Do not ruin GA’s name.

How about Mercury Way. I think Ford should have revived the “Mercury” name for their electric car division.

I don’t remember the town called Gasoline Alley. I thought the original strip was about a group of neighbors that worked on their cars in the alley behind their houses. In fact I don’t remember the town having a name.

Hey I thought it was still a proposal that the GA council was thinking about. I still see Miss Melba and Rufus getting involved. Rufus will probably help sweep it under the carpet before the bear arrives to disrupt the debate.

Also my recollection that “Gasoline Alley” was the name of the place where you’d find the original characters’ garage(s), not the name of the town. Although I haven’t taken the time to check, I wouldn’t be surprised if one or more of the WALT AND SKEEZIX collections settles this question.

I’m not sure if I should be thankful or envious that I can’t imagine having so little to worry about that the news that my town was changing it’s name would warrant anything beyond a “huh, that’s very slightly annoying”, let alone this much indignation.

Wow, Walt sure is taking the idea badly. From his facial expression in the first panel you’d think he just found out his dog had been run over.

First choice was Nuclear Acres but they were worried people would have a meltdown over that name.

A “gasoline alley” was and is the garage area of a race track going back to the earliest days of autosports. in the beginning it was where drivers could take on gas, change tires. make repairs to the car. etc. Over time, as refueling became faster, and what might be done in the midst of a race, the alley was reduced to the spot we see today.

Well, I checked the comments over the last three days to see whom I should give credit to, but it surprisingly turns out that NO ONE came up with “Electric Acres”.

Absolutely hideous. And pointless. The word “Electric” by itself simply doesn’t suggest EVs in the way that “Gasoline” suggests internal combustion; we’ve been using electricity too much in too many ways for too long for it to suggest personal transportation.

Off the top of my head, a far better substitute would be “Amp-Hour Place̦”. (“Amp-Hour” is not used much by non-engineers except in discussing EV charging and charges.)
