What is this house phone of which you speak?

I got rid of my landline a few years ago after suddenly being hounded with calls from creditors looking for my ex from whom I’d been divorced for nearly 20 years. He never even had that number.

Except for businesses, landlines are obsolete. I didn’t need to pay $50 a month to have one.

Also, I no longer have a phone in every room, so I do have to remember to take mine with me.

After decades, I cut the cord last Fall and I couldn’t be happier. I am definitely enjoying the “place and quiet.”

Got rid of the land line but kept the number when I went to mobile. It was far cheaper to go mobile as long as I refuse to let them tack on bells and whistles.Have taken that same number across country and it still works fine. Did used to get a few odd looks at the strange area code. It makes it nice in one way. If a number with the same area code and exchange code and I don’t recognize it? It’s absolutely spam.

There are still house phones??

I can’t remember when I last had an actual house phone. For a few years almost 20 years ago, I had a VoIP because back then, cells were only allowed a certain number of minutes, and on the VoIP I had unlimited calling for $199 a full year, and that included a router. I stopped the VoIP about 15 years ago. Both my watch and Alexa will call my phone if I misplace it, which rarely happens.

Tele-market…..good choice!
