I keep an all-classical music station (WQXR) streaming in the background all day long. Great music, no commercials, no interruptions for news, and the hosts only talk about whatever musical opus is about to be played. I find it is very calming, both for me and for the cat who owns me. I’ve loved classical music since my days in the band and orchestra in junior and senior high school over 60 years ago.
Be of good cheer, Snow! You are underestimating the universe! Former music major here; I listen to classical almost exclusively (but I appreciate good popular music too; ya just can’t boogie to Beethoven like you can to Beyonce!). All music has its place and classical has a large part of my heart. And we sure all appreciate Snow’s wisdom!
Partner likes classical, and military marches, would play it constantly in the car if I let him. I like occasional classical, but don’t find it at all soothing. It’s doctor and dentist and elevator music to me. I’m a rock and roll baby and a country girl and love pop and hip hop. But I DO love Snow and his wisdom—keep it coming, T!
Hey diddle diddle, it’s Snow Cat & his fiddle (or violin, if you prefer, but Eugenia Zukerman liked to call her hubby Pinchas’s violin his “fiddle”…she also called him “Pinky” when they were married…)!
We’re not all gone, Snow. I grew up on opera (& I can sing it as well!), folk, classical, and pop. I not only sing, I play the piano, guitar, recorder, a bit of banjo, and even played a harpsichord. Mom ran Sunday School music, and since I was the oldest, I had to learn everything.
If the door is baroque don’t be Haydn. Come around Bach and jiggle the Handel.
Tonight’s full moon is known as the “Snow Moon.” I was lucky enough to see it rising over the hill across the road this evening. When I found out it was the “Snow Moon,” I thought of Snow the Cat and Ms. T.

There are some of us left. Though everyone has a different opinion of what is great music.

Which doesn’t detract from its greatness at all. Keep it up, Snow, on both fronts!

I appreciate your wisdom, Snow. I also love classical music. My classical music playlist on my iPod has nearly 6000 tracks on it.

Apparently, there are more fans of great music than there are of wisdom.
I suppose the music is easier to recognize.
