Remember Ferdinand Feghoot visiting the planet with mobile intelligent plants? There arose a horrible plant which would kill by puncturing others with its thorns and sucking out all the fluid. Feghoot captured this vamplant and buried at a crossroads with a steak through its heart.
This does not apply to cut flowers since they are not part of the ‘mother’ plant. They each have individual stems. Dead heading or pruning is only for flowers blooming off of the mother plant. For cut flowers it is for aesthetic reasons only.
A study revealed that leaving fruit in deep fruit bowls causes ethylene gas emitted to over ripen the fruit quickly. Recommend using a plate or shallow bowl.
It’s the time of year that bunches of unopened daffodils are for sale in the supermarket. They get sun while on the kitchen counter next to the sink – it has a wide window that gets sun this time of the year. My 2 bunches – $5 and a bargain – are at their peak right now, and please me every time I pass through our kitchen :-)
Household cut flowers are trimmed primarily for aesthetic purposes. If you have so little airflow in a room with cut flowers that ethylene would accumulate, you are living in unhealthy, stale air. Only in plant nurseries and florists will enough gas accumulate to force nearby flowers into the fruiting phase.
Part of my checkered past involved working in a greenhouse, "Debudding"Chrysanthemums. It was to leave leaving just enough buds to produce extra large flowers to grow on each plant.(Among the worse jobs I ever had).

Earl wonders why she limits the number of beans he’s allowed to eat.

Is that true? I always thought pruning was done purely on an aesthetic basis.

Same goes with old men. Earl emits gases that could eventually kill the people around him.

None of the flowers I have do that, but I do have to dust them occasionally. Or not.

Yes, they are.

That’s how I clear a room by emitting some gas
