Ramirez is right. We need more hackers in the FBI, CIA, Armed Forces and to stop Industrial Espionage. Ever wonder how China developed their own Covid Vaccine when other countries, like Japan, couldn’t? It’s a lot faster to steal info, then to actually research it yourself.

Mike, you forgot the border, Ukraine, the Middle East and other problems the Republicans won’t touch.

The only physical attacks on the infrastructure have been practice runs at disabling the electrical grid — performed by right wing “patriots”.

Remember Trump and Putin planning a joint Russian-U.S. “impenetrable Cyber Security unit” when they met at the Hamburg G20 summit. Seems a bit suspicious in retrospect, doesn’t it Ramirez?

Wouldn’t be as much of a problem if the US hadn’t had a security leaking Orange Traitor of a President.

Our electrical grid is a series of disasters waiting to happen. Texas did manage to find a way to implode itself.

If only we hadn’t pi$$ed away all that tax revenue on tax cuts for the wealthy and actually used it to help the country. Good thing Biden got his $5 billion infrastructure improvement plan passed so we could start fixing it.

Amazingly foolish comment above by Zykoic. Attacks are not being made on site by North Korean, Iranian, etc. hackers but from within their own nations. The U.S. needs to upgrade numerous aspects in critical infrastructure to prevent future attack but I’m sure Repubs will continue to bemoan vulnerabilities while denying funds to help businesses harden their infrastructure.

IN THE NEWS; The staff at KRAP-TV has been able to contact President Biden’s chief advisor on what government agency is responsible for preventing Russia and China from hacking into our infrastructure. Their answer was “there is No Such Agency.”

Cue the music: the theme music from “Jaws.” Question: Does Joe have the chops to prevent this national threat from these circling enemies? Where is the shark repellant in this life raft?

“The Cyber National Mission Force is the U.S. military’s joint cyber force charged with Defending the Nation in cyberspace through full-spectrum operations to deter, disrupt, and, if necessary, defeat adversary cyber and malign influence actors.”

And then there are the thousands of electrical generation & supply, refineries, pipelines, storage, chemical and manufacturing, etc…that need to be assessed and protected. Which requires investment.

If the government requires non revenue generating investment, the owners will scream foul, though I would think their investors or insurance companies would be pressing for improvement too.

Now if we shouldn’t fund Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, education etc I’m totally and completely confident that our brethren on the fiscally conservative side would not want their federal tax dollars invested to protect critical infrastructure.

I certainly hope we have people over in Ukraine, observing and learning and bringing back lessons. But I suspect that even in the best case, there will be an incident that causes major damage and creates the incentive to get serious about cyber security.

PS – if I was starting a career, cyber security has great potential. Every organization which uses computers, chips, networks, SCADA, realtime control will need people to assess, improve and defend.

It seems like we should be investing in infrastructure, but that would require an act of Congress and we can see how that work.

What do Russia and China have to do with the policy of maliciously allowing infrastructure to fall apart while spending trillions on war?

Biden is bringing the internet to rural USA, can you believe the USA is still that primitive. The people Biden is helping are the same people that watch Fox propaganda which tells them to hate Biden.

What is the internet bill passed by Biden?

The Biden-Harris Administration’s Internet for All initiative is investing $65 billion to provide affordable, reliable, high-speed internet for everyone in America. Learn more about these funding programs for community infrastructure, digital skills, and technology at .

Does rural America have Internet access? As even the FCC has stated, rural areas have less access to broadband infrastructure than urban areas, and rural areas have fallen behind urban and suburban levels of fixed broadband by 54 percent. Only 19 percent of rural Americans have more than one broadband option.

Thief Trump’s Infrastructure Weeks were a national joke, republicans doubled the debt by giving tax breaks to rich people who did not need the money. Steve Bannon stole money for the wall.

All those unlabeled sharks are unvetted “Newcomer” Russian and Chinese agents allowed to cross our southern and northern borders (yes, our border with Canada) without restriction. We are digging our own grave.
