I have a provision in my will that will keep my (home) telephone in service for 90 days after my demise. It will be answered by the following message.
“I’m not very sorry I missed your call because I’m dead. So my Medicare Advantage is no longer necessary, my lawn does not need mowing, and my house is being disposed of by the executor of my estate. I am no longer interested in auto insurance, wireless service, Girl Scout cookies, investment opportunities, special day or night vision glasses, or to hear that my son, daughter, brother, sister, or granny has been kidnapped in Venezuela. I no longer care about my roof, my appliances, my car engine, or my health. I have either found Jesus or discovered any alternative. But the best thing of all is that I wasn’t, and will never again be, bothered by this telephone call nor by you. That’s what I call ‘Resting in Peace.’ Thank you and Good-Bye.”
That sign represents an Era long since past, early to mid sixties. My good friends parents had a color TV and every once in awhile they would invite some of us kids in to watch the Flintstones or Disney’s wonderful world of color. I remember those signs of day’s long since past.
I guess that’s a motel sign that died out in favor of "Rooms Have Cable TV " sign which might be in another graveyard thanks to "Free WiFi " signs these days.
To the “youngsters” out there, back “in the day”, motels along the highway used to tout things like “air conditioning” and “color TV” to entice passersby…

It’s just a gimmick. Besides, people are already dying to get in.

I don’t think that’s much of a draw in TYOOL 2024.

A tombstone dating back, I would guess, to the 1950s or 1960s.

Those signs did die a long time ago but they did have their day at hotels and motels many years back……

I remember when that was a big deal. But I’m still on this side of the fence.
