The standard presidential election year question: Are you better off than you were four years ago?
Four years ago, we couldn’t even buy toilet paper.
Four years ago, we were using refrigerated trucks in hospital parking lots as makeshift morgues and patients were strapped onto gurneys in hospital hallways.
Four years ago, we were in the throes of massive unemployment and total collapse of the stock market.
Four years ago, grocery store shelves were as empty as in one of the Russian stores (not the ones traitor Tucker Carlson wants to cherry-pick as he tries to peddle the anti-American lie that life in Russia is so much better than in the United States).
In 2021 sleazy45 incited an insurrection because he lost. Then was not man enough to be at the inauguration of the rightful president. Hell yes, I am better off.
Meanwhile (to borrow a phrase from Stephen Colbert), remind me how many of Traitor Trump’s children are HIS? (I miss masterskrain—anybody know whatever happened to him?)
To be accurate, it’s four years ago. At the time, I was working two jobs when Covid struck. On 19 March, our governor shut down the state, then I lost my major job, leaving me with the seasonal one I still have. Therefore, I was better off only for another five days.
The China virus did a lot of damage for sure. But it’s a very smart virus, it knows not to infect when you’re seated in a restaurant, only when you’re walking through the restaurant. It knows not to spread during leftist street riots, but does spread in churches and in garden centers of home improvement stores. Where’s Fauci nowadays?
74,000,000, how many of your are ready to grow up past this package of issuelies that your are promoting? You’re just gittin those “weirdo” sideways glances from the rest of us:
Unfortunately no, my property taxes are twice as high, I can’t afford a newer car with less miles, and I received the smallest raise in 14 years of employment. My bonus is based on a current market value of a certain stock and it’s the lowest it’s ever been. My adult kids are struggling to make ends meet while raising a young family because consumer goods have gone up. And they can’t trade up for a bigger house because interest rates are ridiculous and the cost of housing is WAY out of control. It’ll get better, but it’s gonna take more than a few years to see the changes.
We’re doin’ fine. But, someone has to take the speaker, shorty johnson, off to the side and have a little talk with him. Maybe someone from Ukraine could convince him to straighten up and fly right.
I see a GOP rep. Ken Buck, just walked away from the job.
“I’m sick of these loonies. I’m not wasting anymore of my life here.” An approximation of what he said.
I can’t understand these Magats who say they’re worse off now than when Dump was prez. I make more money now, am safer from covid, prices are down and the grocery shelves are full, the roads and bridges are being rebuilt, and so on, and so on.
The MAGAts keep saying that we are all better off financially because of Trump.
Well, that is certainly true in my case. If he hadn’t made those cuts, Covid would most likely have been contained in China, my RN son wouldn’t have died of Covid at 56, and I wouldn’t have inherited his retirement fund. So, financially, yes, I’m doing great.
The Obama administration established White House’s National Security Council Directorate for Global Health Security and Biodefense after the Ebola epidemic of 2014. They set up 40 clinics in hot spots all over the world, whose job was to monitor the local situation and immediately send for adequate help to contain any threat. One of those clinics was in the Chinese province where Covid originated.
To research this for validity look for “Playbook for Early Response to High-Consequence Emerging Infectious Disease Threats and Biological Incidents.”
The Trump White House dissolved the office, as part of the budget cuts when he cut taxes. It’s impossible to assess the full impact of this 2018 decision, but it is clear that eliminating the office contributed to the federal government’s sluggish domestic response. What’s especially concerning about the absence of this office today is that it was originally set up because a previous epidemic made the need for it quite clear. When asked about the slow roll-out of coronavirus tests in the U.S. on March 13, President Trump responded, “I don’t take responsibility at all.” Trump is not just responsible for it. He owns it. The Trump Plague is not just his responsibility. It and all the problems it caused are his fault.
I wonder if the hand-picked Florida “Surgeon General”, Josef Ladopo, still claims that “demon sperm” and witches cause COVID. You know, the doctor that has been totally discredited by the medical community and the university he supposedly attended.
Regardless, that anti-vax demon sperm quack of a surgeon general says sick kids, including those with the most virulent form of extremely contagious measles, don’t need to quarantine, and schools must not prevent kids who haven’t had the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine from attending school.
Because right wing politics is a better cure for deadly disease than science, don’t you know?
And still the whackos and trolls, just above, still push the dangerous anti-Fauci hate meme.
