Sylvia will get a chance to see her dad’s feet for the first time in a long time.

I’d rather have what little soot is on their shoes than dead skin on my carpet!

Fun fact: the skull and crossbones had to be replaced on toxic household cleaners because too many kids thought it had to do with pirates rather than poison. They came up with a new symbol called Mr Yuk.

I read of a store manager who laid a strip of temporary carpet and allowed people to walk on it with their shoes for a month. Whatever color shade it ended up, that’s the color he ordered for the permanent carpet.

That sounds like the kind of “practical” thing Earl would do.

I saw tons of baking soda (carpet deodorant) get “displaced” when our carpetting was being removed. If Opal was so anal about cleanliness, she should have it removed.

And now it is time for the dog to drag his rump over the carpets.

Yeah, a skull and crossbones makes a message very obvious.

Maybe Opal should invest in a box of shoe covers.

FULL DISCLOSURE: with my diabetes, I’m always supposed to wear shoes in the house as well as outside. Those covers are great for keeping your shoes on without getting people’s rugs dirty, & they’re easier to carry around than a pair of “inside shoes.”

Do you mean that the skull and crossbones does not mean that there’s poison on the floor that would soak through the skin if you took your shoes off?

If we sophisticated Americans would just provide disposable slippers for our adult guests all would be fine on our white or silk carpets. For children, I don’t have a recommendation. For our two, we only had oriental rugs in our living room and dining room which were closed off by folding french doors. Rest of the house was wood or tile floors.

In a fit, she left all her clothes on the porch on the next visit.

Uh-oh, that means there’s a “Keep off the Carpet” sign on the arsenic.
