Oh Michael. When you are visiting at home, telling your mother when your are going out is a courtesy. Unfortunately, Michael was not raised to understand this.

That’ll end soon enough, Mike. And you’ll miss it.

You do have more freedom, Mike, she can’t tell you that you can’t go here or there or even when to be home. But you should tell her if you’ll be there for dinner or not.

Panel 3: The odors emanating from that place are so bad, they have their own personalities!

Sorry. I have to say it. “Fudgie” means something totally different here in Michigan. (It means someone who is not from the northern ends of the state. That fact can have a universal interpretation in itself, depending on where in Michigan you are located.)

My older daughter feels the same way. In college in the middle of Boston she had the freedom to come & go & didn’t need a car to go anywhere. Here she needs to ask for rides.

When I was young, there was a gas station down the street with an ice cream machine that sold fudgesicles for a nickel.

I bought some fudge pops last summer but they just didn’t taste like they did when I was younger and I was disappointed, plus the bars were half the size then they were.
