The sad part is that the factory made robots. Without new robots, there won’t be enough out-of-work robots!!!

The robots got unemployment benefits. The two employees were out of luck.

Like the old joke about the factory that had two workers- a man and a dog. The man was there to feed the dog. The dog was there to keep the man from messing with the machines.

The company failed because it was unable to invest in long-term projects. Shareholders demanded constantly increasing profits and revenue every single quarter, and once all the employees have been laid off there wasn’t anything else to cut.

But think of it from the shareholder standpoint – they had multiple mansions and yachts to pay for. They didn’t have any other choice.

While employers squeeze workers and their unions for cuts to health care and other benefits, the CEOs of major corporations now make nearly 400 times more than their average employees, the largest employer-worker gap in our history. While 60 percent of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck– with three multi-billionaires owning more wealth than the bottom half.

It is possible to impose a minimum wage that supports a decent standard of living. And, it is possible to regulate commerce to control prices, it is done in other countries, but that is the last thing the Republicans want to see happen. They fight against any regulation of capitalism, because it’s an American right to be free of government interference, except in your religious rights, your medical decisions, your choice of reading materials and your bedroom.

So now the shareholders have share of nothing, that seems like poetic justice.

The robots were immediately given to high school robotics programs. Most high schools have no idea what to do with a 1-ton, single-purpose assembly robot. (It’s a tax thing.)

Probably shut down due to low profits because the robots have 99.98% of the jobs and the out of work people can’t afford to BUY YOUR PRODUCT.
