Yes, it’s pretty convenient that the details of the charity fundraiser publicity gives both the name and the location of the winner who still has their loot. They won’t have to waste time looking around.
BO Plenty, that’s a name I haven’t heard for ages. My mother used to use that as a tease/insult. Then there’s the L’il Abner character, similar vein, Big Barnsmell.
I’m confused, B.O said that he won the car through a raffle draw by entering in his ticket on the April 26th edition of the strip. But today the paper said that he won through an auction. Did the paper meant that the comic con won the auction and then gave it away in a raffle? But that doesn’t make sense to me.
No, B.O. Plenty winning a famous car in a contest and then happening to stumble across Crop-top in the middle of recovering stolen loot— THAT is convenient. If you can buy the idea that this famous car exists in the Tracyverse and was raffled off by a comics convention, it makes perfect sense that there would be a newspaper story about it; and of course there would be a picture accompanying the article because newspapers like that kind of a snazzy visual.
I find it more unbelievable that Crop-top didn’t recognize the “Hat-mobile” when B.O. pulled up.
1-CLEANCUT: It’s about time you all got up. I’ve already showered, shaved, had breakfast and read half the paper and…
2-CROPPIE: SHADDAP! Gimme that! You didn’t think to mention that the car with our loot is on the front page?!?! CLEANCUT: Huh? Oh. I guess the other story about the guy born with a dog’s head next to his normal head caught my attention first. Do you think his mom had relations with a dog and a dude? That would be…
3-CROPPIE: SHADDAP! Here’s all the info we need to go get our dough. BOWLING LEAGUE: Do you think it might be a trap set-up by the ever-clever Dick Tracy and MCU?
CROPPIE & CLEANCUT: HA HA HA! GOOD ONE! STOP IT!!!
The boy and his dog are the Tracyverse version of Charlie Brown and Snoopy. Each daily is one panel, slight variations of the two of them staring at the camera, as the exemplar of what passes for a plot in their universe.
What is coming next? Croptop and crew make their way to Sunny Dell Acres. Via Uber, it does not look like any city buses go in that direction. Unless AAA came and towed the car to a garage.
Odds are that Gertie will go through the trunk and find the suitcase. If so, all bets are off Croptop will have met her match. After all these years, Gertie is still a force to be reckoned with.
