Well, that is as good an outcome as they could have expected.

When I worked at a collection agency, one woman came in on a Friday, literally one minute before closing time, to pay off a debt which was due that day. She paid in silver certificates. Like with our band of heroes here, she was tendering those for far less than their actual worth.

In California now, you actually NEED a pile of gold to buy a burger and fries.

Those Doubloons are worth much more than the burgers. I would definitely pay for them for some doubloons.

Reminds me of when working at a gas station, moron kid comes in with his mom’s “odd coin jar”, and in it is a silver dollar. “It says ONE DOLLAR, you have to take it!” Fine, and then I’ll buy it out of the register once you’re gone, along with the silver quarters and the Ben Franklin half dollar.

The South African Rand was also cool.

Wonder what they’ll think after the first bite, “Never met a fish that tastes like THIS!”

You could have eaten the entire staff there, Sherman. Oh, wait, you’re human at the moment. That would have looked funny.

If that manager is so dumb he doesn’t know the value of gold coins, he deserves to be where he is, and will never advance.

I’ll make a couple of burgers if you pay me off in gold doubloons.

Come on, Manager, with a pile of gold doubloons, you could buy all the supplies needed to keep the place stockpiled for years.

If I were the manager I would take the doubloons, pay for the meal from my wallet and head to a historian to find out how much the pirate booty could bring. Maybe offer more food for more gold in future.

The cash register’s not set up to tell them how much change to give.

Reminds me of a “Pippi Longstocking” book, where she paid for circus tickets with a gold piece. She got grandstand tickets for herself and her friends, and refused the huge pile of change the cashier tried to give her.

Ironically, you can’t pay for a Double-Double with doubloons.

I had a customer pay for a repair with silver dimes and some bills. I paid a dime for each silver dime and sold the silver for $135.00. I think the dimes cost me $1.50.

Gold is $2,300 an ounce. Each doubloon is a quarter of an ounce, so they are trying to pay $1,725 for their meal. But the manager gave it to them for free.
