A golden cage is still a cage, no matter how big…

Positive aspect: they won’t be eaten by anacondas.

Even though zoo’s are interesting to see the animals in what seems to be their natural habitat, the staff and vets take very great care of them.

Very sad!

At least modern zoos attempt natural habitats. I am old enough o remember mostly concrete and iron barred cages. But I also remember the gradual remodeling and creation of the newer spaces. Plus activities to provide mental stimulation.

An awakening.

The biggest difference between past mass extinction events of Earth and the current one is that today’s is being caused deliberately.

Yesterday I could only think of how sad it is to see animals in zoos (although sometimes they are the only way to protect certain species…no comments on man-made disasters, please!). Today…you’ve driven it home.

I feel sad for those capybaras.

This is fascinating and sad.

Apparently the zookeepers are inadvertently feeding someone else well…

The capybaras might be in enclosures, but at least their predators are in different ones.

An old tv show for the early 60s comes to mind “Wally Gator.” He was always trying to escape the zoo.

Sounds like the Capibaras are affected by “saudade” (longing) which despite its literal translation has a deeper spiritual meaning about longing for a place or time or both (which can include the company of someone).

Now I’m sad.
