I always wondered about the people that hold up the “Slow” sign. That’s not something I would advertise about myself. But, if you’re slow to begin with…
A tremendous difference in time depending on who is doing the job. A government crew takes months to complete a job that only takes weeks when done by a private contractor on bid.
Indiana is busting out a section of interstate and making feet per day of progress with their equipment. In Kansas they have a machine that busted out miles in a week.
I pass a sign everyday saying construction zone with another sign just like it right behind it and detour signs further up the road. in the 10 or so years I’ve gone by there hasn’t been any construction. Maybe that’s where they store the signs.

In Montana it took them over 6 months to put in a turn lane. Here in Florida it took them a couple weeks to resurface a road.

I find most road construction projects take longer than space missions. Why is that?

Like hiway 18 from Auburn, WA to I-90 started in 1973 when I graduated high school. Still continuing to “improve” that road today.

That sign was first used in New Mexico. And still is.
