Look, Dave…my calendar (from DOLLARAMA) has Donut Day on June 4.

Whatcha gonna do?

It seems unfair to only get one day!

I love donuts, but my body doesn’t.

NATIONAL DOUGHNUT (DONUT) DAY

Each year on the first Friday in June, people participate in National Doughnut or Donut Day. This food holiday celebrates the delicious doughnut and honors the Salvation Army Lassies. In case you didn’t know, the Salvation Army Lassies are the women who served doughnuts to soldiers during WWI.

There is a donut shop in Toronto called COP DONUTS. I love the name.

I like that they have holes in the middle; I know they’re not hiding anything.

That’s the hole idea.

Hmmm, I could use a big ol’ Homer Simpson about now. It would go good with m’ coffee.

Donuts have a hole in them……….

I’ll take a doughnut or two.

On a Sunday?

As my departed father would say now & again:

“As you go through life dear brother, let this be your goal:

Keep your eye upon the donut, and not upon the hole."

(Turns out it was from an ad he probably read/heard when he came over from Czechoslovakia at 17)

Love donuts but can’t seem to get out of the hole….

Mmmmmmmmmmm. Fried dough with sugary toppings. :)

Nom, Nom, Nom … I get it … Nom, Nom, Nom …!

I “nom, nom, nomed” pizza slices yesterday.

“Donut go gentle into to that good night…” Dylan’s making a killing!

Give a toast (and coffee) to Captain Hanson Gregory, inventor of the donut hole. Breakfast cakes were fried, and greasy in the middle until he increased the surface area by allegedly sticking one cake on a spoke of his ship’s wheel. That is obvious nonsense but sounds better than what probably did happen (he stuck his finger through the center of the batter to make the hole.) There is a charming article about him on a site called Turtle Bunbury Histories, and a small statue of him holding a donut in the Smithsonian Institution.

Maybe the turnover isn’t as bad as everyone seems to think? • ᴗ –
