I first recognized Lizz because the other members of the MCU are there, so it must be her, but she seems off-model somehow. Her hand also looks a little awkward in the first frame. Thankfully, she hid the other one so that Charles didn’t have to draw it, but everything looks better in the last frame.
So, it appears that the mysteriously unnamed detective in the first part of the story works in the homicide division and they may have off-loaded the case to the MCU, so it’s possible we won’t see her again. Everybody has their assignments, so the investigation is off and running. Not a bad development, story-wise.
Your mission should you choose to accept it (You’d better !), is to find the evil, that is so evil, it drives people to self annihilation. I don’t know who that dame is, who is scratching the table, but I want our beloved Lizz back.
Hopefully Lee will have access to the hard drives from work computer, home computer, and laptop since most of us have multiple computers. I would say she has the best chance of getting anything important – even deleted emails can usually be reconstructed.
And does Lee do the hard drive forensics or turn them over to the guys in the Forensics lab who do? Sam has been given a written list of items in Pierce’s office… Who compiled the list? Did the person making the list have any idea to know what to include (I mean, yes, everything but how did they know how to describe it in a manner than might be of interest to the MCU? Sam should go there himself. Not sure about assignment given Liz, “Find out how someone could get a document from a defunct savings institution.” Uh, physical or digital copies of every document they generated are now in the possession of whatever company bought the assets of defunct institution. (I once did some legal temp work for a bank that purchased the assets of several defunct contributors to the sub-prime meltdown.) So workers from the defunct institution or anyone working for the institution who now has them. There are probably records for who accessed a particular loan transaction using bank protocols and passwords. A former employee of RTC would have to have provided the blackmailer with intel on what to look for unless the blackmailers had hacked a secure system and spent years looking through the millions of digitized documents.
Twice in just a few days, Eric has done something to make me think he may have originally written (or at least plotted) the story as a proposal for use in a comic book. On Friday and Saturday, he had the homicide detective start a sentence at the end of one day’s strip, and complete it the first of the next day. Unusual, but typical for a transition in a comic book. And this also gives the impression that Tracy’s meeting and the one with the blackmailer was happening and the same time.
Today, he places a caption on panel 1 which would be perfectly logical for a comic book, but again seems out of place here. The MCU staff meeting was obviously after that of the blackmailers, since it was at the same time as Tracy’s meeting with the nameless detective. Does this mean it’s important that the MCU meeting was the same day, and not the next day?
It’s a holiday but NOT for the hardworking Tracyville Major Crimes Unit.
1-DT: Ok team – let’s plan for the upcoming month of…June, is it? Yeah. OK…
2-…Here’s a list of department birthday’s for June. Make sure the parties come off without a hitch, Sam.
3-…Lee – You’re in charge of the Juneteenth Celebration.LEE: ‘Cause I’m black, right? Geez… DT: Well…yeah. Liz – you take Father’s Day.LIZ: ‘Cause I don’t know for sure who the fathers to my 3 kids are, right?
DT: Maybe it will jog your memory of those drunken conception nights. You’re welcome. Oh. If it does, I get a cut of the Child Support. DIS-MISSED!
SURPRISED OT: Found out tonight the narrator of my new book was one of the lead voice artists on the SAILOR MOON translated series. Not having watched that, I had no idea.

My first thought was the 4th person in the room was Angie/Adam Dickerson. Definitely not our sweet Lizz!

Dangit—individual assignments. Why can’t Tracy ever make us work in teams?
