I think it’s hard to find good candidates for many reasons – it costs a lot of money, the media is constantly looking for something to “report” about you, the opposing party is always looking for something “bad” you did years ago or is twisting your history or lying about it, the list goes on. Shorter campaign seasons would perhaps help.
